Looks like I struck up some interest regarding KREM. I too tried to borrow shares to short at about 96, but Schwab couldn't find any.

I ended up going with puts.

In my experience these chains always end up crashing & burning at some point, but it can take years longer than expected. The typical malaise is expanding too rapidly and losing grip on costs on proper consideration for locations. Killed Planet Hollywood, Taco Cabana, and many others.

Many moons ago I shorted STAR - Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and took a bath by the time I gave up and covered. Turns out I was about 18 months too early before it went splat.

I used to have a geology professor who had shares in krispy kreme in 1975. my view of the company is skewed because no matter how long the fieldtrip, no matter how many meals we needed...we could ONLY stop at krispy kreme to support his investment.

I hope he made a fortune, but I'm never eating another one of those things.
