John- AG, besides cryptic speeches, usually uses (only) John Berry, writer for the Washington Post, to get his points across...and, to my knowledge, never Wayne Angel. Angel has been one of the most aggressive, likely THE most aggressive former Fed governor/commentator out there...He is usually the one prodding the Fed to cut.....his call in early Jan. was right on the money, but previously, he had been calling for cuts for a while......He likes to jawbone AG, and seems to have no fear...

Given his position with a major house, that makes him totally tainted in my view...I think he was just out to have fun, and make his clients money on Friday <G> I'd be amazed if Greenspan WAS using him....he is just a shill like Kudlow, Abbey,etc...although Angel has more pull....

BTW- Berry had a column last week that talked about the Fed's reluctance to raise rates...however, that was before the Michigan consumer confidence figures came out....
