more OT ..

CIA/Army testing of "incapacitators" are rummored to have run well into the late 60's.

The idea was to run "humane" wars .. get 'em wasted then capture the whole lot before they come back down.

Anyway .. many years ago I ran into this interesting chart. It involved the methoxylated amphetamines. There was like fourty different compounds listed on the chart. Each one rated for it's "activity." The chart was rated in Mesquline Units or MU's. The compound in the article you listed was only rated at about 2.5. There were several rated higher with the highest being at about 40.

The chart was not rated according to how many mg. of a compound it took to work but, rather, how strong the effects were at the first noticed level of effect.

Two things that I noted about the chart ..
first most of the drugs listed were (and still are) legal and unnoticed by the street.
second was that lab rats do not fill out questionairs after drugs wear off.

Some of other compounds that were on that chart: MDA, MMDA, Ecstasy.

All of these are based on the amphetamine molecule.

A note of interest is that Albert Hoffman worked on a whole series of compounds based on the lysergic acid base ..

Sandoz labs trick was to lock the fragile shape of the LSD molecule into place with a tartaric acid bridge. This prevented the d isomer from rotating into the l. I think they are the only folks to have done this ..
