marek : <What is limiting growth in this world is lack of clean, cheap energy>

IMHO, "growth" is destroying the planet --- whether by global warming or other forms of pollution eg GM crops, insecticides, exhaust fumes etc. And, the process is happening very fast now. During the past 40 years the world population has doubled from 3 to 6 trillion and this, at a time when politically, every human is recognised by the powers that be to have equal political rights (but not equal responsibility). Illegal immigration is now rampant into any country where the poor of another country feel they can eke out a better living. Can this population growth continue .....?!

Undoubtedly, this mass reproduction and population movement is going to lead to wars all over the place. IMO, the situation which we have seen in Rwanda of genocide, in Kosovo where Albanians swarmed into Serb land and were given rights by NATO to be there, and what is taking place in the Mid-East where Israeli and Palestinian are competing for the same land, are all examples of overcrowding which leads to war. The border conflicts between India/Pakistan are undoubtedly also examples of this as must be the apparently religious conflicts in Indonesia, which is one of the most heavily populated places on earth.

<We will fry ourselves if every man in Asia will start to consume only percentage what an average American or Canadian is using.>

Indeed so. And, this on top of the various other "natural" disasters like earthquakes, floods, droughts and diseases which are sweeping round the world. That is why, in the future, I see no alternative than many wars fought in the name of race and/or religion but which are really a competition for resources. National or ideological wars seem largely out of the question, but I could be wrong.

If gold will offer an advantage in such a situation then I will accept it (pun intended)!
