Getting that smaller cast is like having no cast at all. I had the shoulder to finger plaster cast for 6 weeks and the shorter fiberglass cast for two weeks. It took a few minutes before my elbow felt normal to bend.

After they removed the second cast I used a knife to scrape the dead skin off my palm. You can clean the cast with a damp cloth, just don't soak it. Damp is the word.

That isn't much longer for the large cast..Poor boy, how is he adjusting?

My son broke his hand when he was in Jr. High, and was taking typing for his computer classes [they call it key board now] and the stupid teacher gave him a "D" because he couldn't type!!!! What an idiot, and he was in the gifted and talented program! Don't you know there was a visit to the principal's office immediately?
