Thanks for the summation of articles.

One important point - 1xEV is standardized for 1.25 MHZ channels under IMT 2000 guidelines. 1xEV has not YET been standardized for 5 MhZ spectrum under IMT 2000 guidelines. However, it is pretty obvious that the introduction of the ASIC for WCDMA and the multimode chips for GSM 1xEV GPRS WCDMA systems have al but concluded the standardization and convergence of CDMA in all systems. It doesn't matter if you build a CDMAONE system and upgrade it to CDMA2000 or upgrade a GSM system to 1xEV and WCDMA. The convergence of all competing technologies is finished - pretty far ahead of schedule if you ask me.

It may not be obvious to all - but I see checkmate in 2 moves. NOK is just scratching it's head trying to find a move to block. Too bad they only have 1 pawn (GPRS) left on the table.
