Richard, you're right.. rate cuts alone will only float the boat a week/month or two. For sustained price improvement the current vogue of "value investing" and "profits" needs to give way to talk of strategic opportunity, growth and innovation again.

However, the burns from this last bubble has been pretty severe. Many investors just don't want to go it alone anymore. Oddly, as money piles up in conservative pools, it will eventually become available for borrowing on new business ideas including bailing out survivors from the recent crash.

Without rate cut, investors will sell on the disappointment. With a rate cut, investors will sell on the news. These days, selling on the rebound seems to be more profitable than buying on the dips.
