That Bull Stearns is really on the ball. From 1/31...

According to a January 31, 2001 Bear Stearns report, recent
earnings disappointments or cautionary comments from Cisco
Systems, Corning, Nokia, and PMC-Sierra have failed to cast a
pall over the market. The firm notes that a market shrugging off
bad news is bullish. Furthermore the route of 55% in the NASDAQ
composite may have at least discounted negative near-term
disappointments. However, Bear Stearns doubts the NASDAQ will
revisit the 5000 area anytime soon but it may experience a spirited
bear market rally.
