The markets were flat from 1973-1982 because of inflation and a wrecked bond market. Remember 14% Long Bond and 22% T-bills?

but you would have had to sell it all and then wait for the next big dip.

I think that is the script going forward.

I am more optimistic than that. I anticipate a steady move up in 2002 and going forward. I really do not seem an extremely long term market or economic issue. I can only find a current bear market.
