I've always enjoyed urban legends and am amazed by the number of people who buy into them. Some people buy anything that sounds like it comes from an authority without taking any interest in verification. They accept on faith some ridiculous claims.

Lots of people fell for the JATO story (one of my favorites): snopes2.com and the scuba diver story: snopes2.com

I will admit that I did fall for one. The Neiman-Marcus cookie story: snopes2.com

D.

P.S. The cookies are delicious. :)
