definitely read the prospectus....

if it says: we invest in investment grade corp bonds or those bonds which are unrated but "we" deem to be investment grade...

get the hell out of it.

If you see in the money market fund's list of holdings "XXXX Funding Corp." (e.g. Delaware Funding), that is a red flag that you are holding toxic waste. Of course, most of this stuff will never blow up, and even when it does you will only lose a small part of your principle. The issue is how much extra yield are you getting for being in this stuff as opposed to U.S. Treasuries. Right now, there is not much of a spread.
