That piece by Chip was pretty good, but I thought of a possible flaw in the thinking. He said that his father said that the Federal Reserve and the powers would never let 1929 happen again. My thinking and I'm not sure of this at all is that is exactly what has brought us to the precarious position described by the likes of Noland right now. By intervening and saving the world from S&L debacles to 1987 SM intervention to Mexican, Russian , LTCM and SEASIAn bailouts, an incredible debt pyramid has been erected in order to prevent 1929. We'll see....

modern day hubris...they said the SAME thing in '29/'30...back then it was "now we have the Fed (it was founded in 1913)...collapses can't happen anymore" .. promptly the collapse happened.

what the 'new era' proponents forget is that human nature hasn't changed....and just as we have 'more safeguards' we have an infinitely more complex system to deal with, with many more potential pitfalls.

according to the new era proponents the NAZ could never have fallen by over 50% in less than a year...and yet it did. an 'impossible' collapse just happened...
