Yet another take on SLB -

Schlumberger (SLB) 61.70 1.69: Banc of America Sec upgrades to STRONG BUY from BUY rating and price target of $90; says company's Sema acquisition has been met with stinging criticism, but it is firm's view that criticism stems from a lack of understanding of SLB's technology strategy of the last few years and the dynamic that Sema brings to company's technology offering; believes SLB did not overpay for Sema and has an attractive valuation.

They are still missing the point. 95% buy SLB for instant, liquid, energy exposure. Now it is more and more a hybrid. It doeesn't fit into a sector. So it is dumped - left for the smaller investors and funds and stock picker types to play - but the big funds are gone.

OT/Wish I'd thought of that. Applies well

to the politically correct who've provoked food fight after food fight over the several years I've read SD. Then they'd dive under the bar stools when they simply couldn't handle the heat that followed. LOL. Hopefully that epoch is over and they are gone FOR GOOD.

This thread will rebuild in the months ahead. With the trouble makers gone, my hope is it will be less contentious, where good contrarian thinking has a chance to be aired without the frequent response being cheap shots, and bashing of the poster or his sources by a predominantly bullish but obviously quite insecure herd mentality.

Cheers
