favor to ask on using AOL new version 6.0 with internet

I used to have AOL v5.0
so in the past when I clicked on Internet Explorer, it would first make the connection for AOL, then allow the IX to find an internet website which I declare as the default
that worked fine

now I have upgraded to AOL v6.0
now when I go directly into AOL without any internet connection, I indeed get AOL v6.0
but when I click on Internet Explorer, it again attempts to make the connection for AOL, but it does so with THE OLD V5.0

does anyone know how to inform Microsoft Internet Explorer how to point to the new AOL v6.0 version ???

I have attempted to look at IX Tools/ Properties
but all I see is for a default AOL connection
no stipulation is made for version of the AOL
a few key friends have no idea
one suggests Uninstalling AOL v5.0, forcing IX to find v6.0

much appreciated, Jim
