JB, >I can't help but to suspect that SSB has an agenda here<

You're not alone. Strange that the semi equips remain in a relatively high trading band, even though orders are still trending down.

<<so that their clients who shorted will be able to qualify for long term capital gains>>

Remind me again, what is required to qualify for long term cap gains on a short?

Hint: the question is sarcastic.

Why would someone routinely and repeatedly badmouth the sector? What I find interesting about jj's "calls" is that he doesn't identify any specific "source" for his comments. He refers to "senior management" and that's it. I think INTC, among other companies, takes the FD rule very seriously so I doubt jj has the "ear" of anyone in management.

This is what is most troublesome about JJ and those of his ilk. Anytime he wants to get in cheap he can claim "I heard it froma source who heard it from a source." Tantamount to yelling fire in a crowded theater. The SEC should make some sort of provision whereby the sources must be disclosed to preclude any sort of possible foul play.
