Scumbria, the problem is that the "complaining" seems wholly disingenuous. It appears that huge multinational conglomerates were trying to shut out a small (some would say itsy-bitsy) innovative startup by avoiding, or misappropriating, their revolutionary technology.

Scumbria wrote:
The litigants are complaining that Rambus learned of JEDEC plans in the meetings, and shaped their IP strategy around those plans. After SDRAM became a standard, Rambus amended their patents and demanded royalties.

You don't see a problem with that?

"The litigants are complaining that Rambus learned of JEDEC plans in the meetings, and shaped their IP strategy around those plans."

The proof is typed out in black on white:
rambusite.com
on page 167:
" As far as intellectual property issues go
here are a few ideas:
1. DRAM on a packet oriented bus
...
4. DRAM with programmable access latency
5. DRAM with on chip address space decoding"

"I think it makes sense to review our current
issued patents and see what we have that may
work against them. If it is something really
key, then we may want to mention it to Hyundai
in our attempts to get the negotiation underway
again. If it is not a really key issue, such
as the initialization issue, then I think it
makes no sense to alert them to a potential
problem they can easily work around"

Very entertaining reading. The shit smells no
matter what.
