Hey, action Jackson,

No one is requiring you to read ANY of the posts you don't like. Stop being a voyeur. If you want to lurk, fine, but no bitching please....

MSFT can be described as a "technology franchise". But it is not as strong a franchise as a Disney or a Gillette or a Coke or a Berkshire Hathaway in the sense that the likelihood it could be dethroned is considerably higher than that of DIS or G or KO or BRKA/B.

I am not saying that MSFT is inferior to any of the above mentioned companies because it is very, very difficult to become a franchise in the ever-changing tech world. MSFT has done what almost no tech company could do in the last 2 or 3 decades or longer.

SUNW could develop into a franchise too, and as it pulls ahead of the IBMs, the HWPs, the DELLS, and the CPQs of the world, it shows every promise of becoming a tech franchise.

A few other tech companies that can attain franchise status are ORCL, and possibly SEBL and INTC. I would say that SEBL is the most interesting of the lot -- sort of a "dark horse" in the race.

This does not mean that you can buy these stocks at any price. But it is just something to keep in mind as the tech industry consolidates going forward.

kg4, u have good points. I like see to MSFT fly as it helps naz index move forward. Without MSFT going up 5% today we could have been in serious trouble. It was the only major naz stock that pulled naz today. Intc, msft, csco, dell all were negative.

I infact see lots of buying happening in sunw for last few days even though stock is negative and I agree this is how big instituions get into the stock.
btw: next day aft i bot sunw leaps, I saw a huge volume in same leaps that was higher then the open intrest in that strike. I wonder what is happening here.
