One difference is that !XAU has decidely pierced the 200dma (which is at 51) which it hasn't done convincingly in the last year. It has gone past resistance of 53.13 and 54.90 and it has just completed a double bottom. . Let's see if it has follow through, but it does look real.

I was speaking of gold, as in the metal, not the XAU. That rally hasn't really begun.
