re the GWB thread: Let's be honest about this: the personal attacks and gratuitous slams were hardly limited to conservatives; both sides were very active in low level, stupid attacks. Remember lawdog AKA brutusdog AKA Don Juan De Marco AKA rachelsmith AKA another-alias-I-don't-remember? And there were numerous other left-wingers in GWB who couldn't have found the high road with a searchlight, radar, a guide dog, and both hands and both feet. I don't know who started it but it was hardly confined to one side.

I also have some doubts about GWB, probably the same ones you do, and I'm also taking a wait-and-see attitude. Neither he nor the GOP own my vote. I have voted Democratic in the past when it was called for.

Wouldn't that have been preferable than to have a U.S. Supreme Court tarnished by its decision to select the president
Yes. I didn't like the way that election ended either. But it appeared to me that once the train went off the tracks down in Florida, SOMEBODY was going to steal that election: Bush in the courts or Gore through crooked counting. (And what I saw of that counting, it was hardly unbiased. They were not trying to determine who won; they were trying to elect Gore.
