Gordon, this is the true reductio:

If we are going to prevent people from killing their wives for the insurance, we should at least have the good grace to give them the money they would otherwise have procured, and to send their wives to a spa each year, to make them more palatable, or, in the alternative, pay the costs of divorce.......

I don't see how you adapted it for capital punishment. What I read was that you were going to force the murderer to support the victims- or if the murderer couldn't, the state would. What exactly were you trying to say? I didn't see how capital punishment fit into it.
