People don't stop having intercourse because their great-great-grandchildren may run out of resources. Yes, they may even have more. Intercourse doesn't appear to be a rational behavior, in the strictest sense and old taboos don't work. While "educated" people can make rational decisions about family size, they are not required to and often do not for any number of reasons. The exact answer to this problem may elude us.
