Chas: I did a little detective work regarding Neil Armstrong. He's 70 years old now. He officially retired from UC's engineering department in 1979. (My wife and I and our kids moved to Greater Cincy in '80.) The ex-astronaut still lives outside Lebanon, Ohio, on his farm. Very, very seldom does he grant interviews. Occasionally he'll pop up on local TV news, giving a speech or accepting an award. He enjoys his seclusion. Still maintains an office at the bank building in quaint downtown Lebanon, which my wife and I visited just 10 days ago. (Lunch at the Golden Lamb, of course.)

As you may or may not know, Hughes H.S. several years ago was turned into a magnet school with emphasis on communications. Still going strong. So you left UC when Oscar was playing there ... right before their national championships? We go up to the campus once in a while, mainly for CCM programs.

Re right-wingers faring better than left-wingers on AM radio: I think the answer probably lies with Marshall McLuhan. Radio is a "hot" medium; TV is a "cool" medium. Rush and Dr. Laura work on radio but not on TV. AM radio is increasingly becoming the medium of choice for the right wing.
