I guess only the Republicans can get away with this. Remember when we shot down that Iranian airliner because we thought it was an F14 taking off close to there? A Tomcat of that vintage has a MRBF of what? 100 flight hours? And it is not like you can throw a tarp over them and park them at the end of the runway. It was SOP for the US to do the maintenance on our top of the line stuff that we sold the Iranians, so they didn't have trained people or parts. So how was Iran flying Tomcats years after the revolution? Where did they get the parts? Hint: it probably wasn't Russia or China...
