My recollection is that they did increase money supply, and have been for quite a while. All they time AG was complaining about the crazy stock market and "irrational exuberance", the money supply was increasing. Like pouring gasoline on a fire.

. I'll have to search for the numbers.

Here's the data on money supply (M!, M2, and M3). Also has national debt. As you can see, all have been steadily increasing.

You need to scroll down a bit to get into 1996-2000 area.

As you can see, it has essentially never decreased, even as a control measure during the inflationary '70s.
