Bad news starting to become bad news? biz.yahoo.com A month ago the market would have rallied on this news believing that an inter-meeting rate hike was more likely. Guess sentiment is finally turning ugly.

JimL: I suggest AVNX in optical sector. Its optical subsystems seem to be getting included in leading-edge optical systems, made all the easier by their compatibility with most other manufacturers' products. It enables systems to push far more lightwaves down the pipe via filtering, separating, and other means too technical to explain well without expertise that I lack. Avanex has just gone profitable, more so than expected and has new products coming out this summer. The company's products save money by lowering cost per lambda so they are immediate value-added purchases with rapid payback. Edit: But I'm not buying more now, expecting to see lower prices.
