The Tornado article points out:

the Broadband Phone needs to live on a high-bandwidth connection, and there are not a lot of those around today. Even ADSL running at 2 megabits/s would not be up to the task, as the phone is said to need throughputs above 4 megabits/s to thrive.

Seems a ridiculous "advance" since the PSTN can provide toll-quality withing 64Kbps. I'm not impressed.
