TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--United Microelectronics Corp. (Q.UME) doesn't intend to change plans to build a 12-inch wafer plant in the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park, reports the Economic Daily News. However, it will study the impact of a planned high-speed railway that will run close to the park and that could affect sensitive chip-making equipment. UMC will have a combined output of 10,000 12-inch wafers at its plants by the end of the year.
