I have some files backed up on both CD-RWs and zip disks (easier for transient back ups). I got the ONTrack System Suite, which is supposed to back up the C drive to some extent, and has recovery options for lost data, including on- line support. I have not, so far, seen how effective any of this is. In the couple of years I have had this Compaq, I have had to use Quick Restore a couple of times, due to Windows 98 degradation. Fortunately, I mainly lost e-mail, as I had word processing documents and many other files on other media, but it was still somewhat traumatic to lose the few things I did, and to have to start over again putting things (like the IE 5 upgrade) on the computer, especially as I had not thought to save the executables, and therefore had to download a bunch of stuff of the net again. Now I have stuff saved to CD- RW, although with broadband, it would not be so bad. Since the last time, for whatever reason, my system has been more stable, but whenever I have glitches, I get nervous again........
