snip follows.
Stocks: Bear Market Over in NASDAQ, Finally!
It took almost a year, but the NASDAQ bear market which started on March 24, 2000, ended on Friday, February 23, 2001. While we recognized the start of the new bull market months ago in the Dow, and the continuing bull trend in the broad market Value Line Index (which we believe will continue to additional all time new highs shortly, along with the other proxy for the MidCap market, the MDY shares, S&P MidCap Index), the NASDAQ-100 Index (NDX) and S&P 500 Index (SPX) had been wet blankets over the whole market, mainly due to the extremely weakness in high tech stocks.
