I think that implicitly this is how property and homes are priced, though it is a slower mechanism. Your home is not bought or sold in a vacuum, just because there is not a formalized exchange doesn't mean that it's value doesn't fluctuate in the eyes of others based on all kinds of factors out of the homeowners control. Just because there is no central limit order book for houses doesn't mean the pricing mechanism is any different. Anyway, lets leave this until after market close, I'm having too much fun watching the "Our economy sucks so much right now that rates will be cut rally" which isn't working out so well

It's like this:

doctor: your leg is infected, we are doing tests
patient: ok, I hope you can amputate it
doctor: tests are back, we are going to amputate
patient: great, I'm so glad it was bad enough to be amputated

This is CNBS logic right now

First of all, no one can list your house for sale but you... I dont know why you keep babbling about this. Second, if people could still own stocks, but you don't like the exchanges, how would it work??? I don't think your thinking this out. Heres a start:

A stock exchange would have a "fixing" quarterly where investors buy or sell only 4 times per year. What do you think?

It's pretty clear you're a democrat, at least in your financial thinking.

The core value of democrat thinking IMHO is that "each and every man has the best intentions of the other man in his heart". This is also why very little democrat thinking works in practice. It sure sounds good in theory though, especially to the lemmings.

"You can't legislate stupidity" (quoted from Jesse Ventura). There's no perfect system that will work for everyone. There's always going to be people that abuse the system. It's a dog eat dog world and it will always be that way.
