Marvin Sepe's Comments On Platinum's Post
After reading Platinum's post this morning, a poster on RB wrote to Marvin Sepe as follows:
"dear mr. sepe,
congrat's on all the fifo's being listed at
all-american.
i'm wondering if you can comment on whether the
following fifo price-related info is accurate. also,
are there any other advantages to buying jsi's fifo's?
ragingbull.lycos.com
thank you."
Mr. Sepe responded as follows:
"Nice to hear from you. PlatinumNat did a very good job in gathering the data for the post. The prices were quoted from national distributors and are indeed valid. Every transaction is considered independently, but purchase through a distributor starts with these prices.
With respect to speed, neither Cypress nor IDT offer a true X9, 32 pin, 133 MHz part. IDT's X9 offering at 133MHz is actually a X9/X18 device with a totally different pin configuration. It is not pin compatible with either the JSI nor IDT true X9 FIFOs. Our products are built on 0.25 micron CMOS technology that is inherently faster and lower power than IDT's X9 parts which are built on 0.35 micron technology. IDT has been in the game for a long time, thus the large number of configurations of the X9 FIFO. JSI will add more configurations over time, but only those configurations with a demonstrated growth market. We won't add configurations just because IDT has them.
Keep up the good work and thanks for your support of JMAR.
Best Regards,
Marv Sepe"
