You are lighting on what is a touchy subject for me. I'm totally disgusted by the overwhelming impulse here in America to make someone else responsible for mistakes that people make themselves. I've been in situations in my business where I've told clients that they would get themselves into trouble if they did such and such. They do it anyway and then come back to me when the problems pop up (and in my business problems equal MONEY) and then have the audacity to complain to me that I should have been more forceful in telling them what would happen! Never, never, never have I had a situation where the person come back to me and said......you were right, we should have listened to you.

The tact I take now is that when a client wants to do something stupid, I tell them to get someone else to help them do it. This ultimately helps the client but it is self-preservation on my part and it's given me a reputation for being a pain in the butt to work with.

People have to start taking responsibility for their own actions. The information was out there on both sides, people chose to only listen to what supported their view and disregard the rest. During the height of the bubble on the NAZ there was rarely a day when CNBC didn't have someone mention the historically high valuations. Not only that, when the interviewers questioned CEOs on the viability of the various underlying business models, they were immediately trashed on the various message boards for "not getting it". People might conveniently forget that in their rush to blame someone other then themselves.

Here is the truth:

Most companies fail

Either they fail early or they fail after years. Don't ever forget that when you place your money in various investments.
