Well we'll watch the gaffe-o-meter closely, Nadine! Like you, I'm interested in how it will
all turn out. I think one thing is for certain. Mr. Bush doesn't inspire confidence in US
consumers. Also, it appears that our allies don't have a very high opinion of him either, especially after he
bombed Iraq. The UK newspaper, The Guardian called Tony Blair, the Prime Minister,
Mr. Bush's lap dog! (g) It wasn't a very nice thing to say, but I thought it was funny!

: )

Cheers,

Mephisto

Paper Says More Votes Were Meant for Gore

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., March 10 (AP) — Al Gore would have gained 784 votes in Palm Beach County if officials had counted every punch card ballot that had a hanging chad, pinhole or dimple, The Palm Beach Post reported today.

Had The Post's standard been used and its tally applied without any changes in counting procedures in Florida's other 66 counties, the revised tally would have been enough for Mr. Gore to erase George W. Bush's 537-vote margin of victory in the state.

Mr. Gore had gained 174 votes in Palm Beach County's official 10-day manual
recount, but those were not counted in the statewide tally because the county
canvassing board missed the deadline.

The Post examined the 9,150 ballots that county officials said had no vote for
president, called undervotes, and found that 5,736 had a mark for either Mr. Bush or Mr. Gore.

The Post also concluded, in a report for its Sunday editions, that a ballot design that confused some voters into choosing two presidential candidates might have cost Mr. Gore as many as 6,000 votes, thousands more than the number of so-called overvotes lost by Mr. Bush.

If he's perceived as doing well and being a strong leader, his gaffes will be overlooked and automatically corrected, and he will acquire teflon, as Reagan did. If he's perceived as not doing well, the gaffes will be regularly reported, especially gaffes that relate to Bush's lack of understanding on policy matters. Those gaffes are more serious than his daily collisions with English grammar.

Well, he doesn't comprehend the Korean danger very well, does he?

They call Bush, "The Toxic Texan." He didn't make the teflon grade.
