to Deutsche Bahn in Germany

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--MARCH 1, 2001 - 10:04 EST
Bombardier Transportation received confirmation
of an order from Deutsche Bahn for the supply of 117 double-deck
vehicles. This represents the exercise of the last portion of an
option based on a contract signed in 1996 for the supply of 250 of
these vehicles. This option brings the total number of vehicles
ordered by Deutsche Bahn within the framework of this contract to
700.

The value of this order is approximately Cdn$165 million (117
million Euro). The double-deck vehicles will be built by
Bombardier Transportation in Görlitz, Germany. Deliveries will
start in the last quarter of 2001 and be completed by mid-2003.
The vehicles will be put into service on regional traffic lines in
various German federal states.

On this occasion, Dr. Peter Buttmann, President of Bombardier
Transportation, Continental Europe, stated: "With their high
passenger capacity and modern design, double-deck vehicles are a
valuable asset in regional transportation. Continued
customer-oriented optimisation has made them a very attractive
mode of transport. Bombardier Transportation is pleased to be
able to contribute with these vehicles to Deutsche Bahn's modern
transport offer." The double-deck trains provide for a
comfortable journey due to the modern and spacious design of the
compartments, comfortable seats, air conditioning as well as
optical and acoustic passenger information systems. The vehicles
are designed for speeds up to 160 km/h.
