Well, still here--last post today:

Since I am the one who invoked the term "stewardship", what I meant by it, as attested in a reputable dictionary, is most relevant.

It might be most relevent to you, but it was not the first time I have seen the word used--and I'm not fried liver.

My son was, in a manner of speaking, entrusted to me; the various task I have undertaken, whether remunerative or purely voluntary, have been entrusted to me; many things may be entrusted to one

Take it easy. I'm not arguing with you here. All I asked was: "By who"? I am curious as to whether it is a promise to self sort of idea or if there is something else. It seems to be an important idea for you. I was wondering.

A right is a moral claim against another, to do or to forbear. You cannot assert a right without acknowledging that we do have moral claims upon one another

I don't believe that. I make a distinction between inherent RIGHTS and social "rights" which are mercurial and often based on might. RIGHTS (based on reason) are bound to be understood slightly different over time, but still, we find that physics, chemistry, etc. invite a fairly consistent agreement over time. I believe a RIGHT is a moral claim FROM another. I don't believe RIGHTS are obligations; They are Freedoms. I don't believe the RIGHT to be left alone is an obligation to stay alone. Do you understand the difference I am getting at?

If we do not have moral claims upon one another, but each simply follows his nature, you have no basis to assert the right to be left alone.

I do not require a moral claim of you to assert my right to be left alone. If you were the only other person on earth I WOULD assert that RIGHT; Although I would probably only avoid your company if you were a psychopath or someone I detested.

Whatever you may hold unjustly, for example, if you occupy a house and take hostages, may morally be taken from you by force

Absolutely, now we have agreement. I don't have a right to take hostages, because other people have the right to be left alone.
