Oh contrare...

he did learn. why do you think he's not racing to stop the inevitable markets comedown???

control and four years to get it fixed = re-election

any other course of action would be suicide....

of course... he will need to pull up a few points of light just so the homeless and homes with out furniture will think he's a kindler gentler sort of non-drinkiing kind of guy..... of course for handouts, if you are not a member of a church....this might be a could time to join...

My understanding of the president's powers must differ from yours.

Limtex:

You may well be accurate, but you give him more credit for planning than I am willing to do. I tend to think that he is just a stumbling old lizard who is trying to stretch out his days of comfort and hurrahs by doing whatever it takes. "Apres Moi Le Deluge" was, I believe, accredited to Charles DeGaulle, but it sure fits Greenspan even better..

Usually men who are approaching their final years worry about what beneficial scratchings their passing will have left in the sand. Greenspan KNOWS what a mess he has created (as evidenced in his past writings) yet he merely expands the damning behaviour. Unforgiveable in one of his position of trust, power, and above all else, AGE.

Best, Earlie
