Dr. J. said that the delay is merely due to time it takes to get the systems checked out; therefore he imho downplayed the technical problems wcdma really has. The Reuters news report, as usual, emphasizes the negatives--stupidly. The meeting was quite upbeat, and there have been some very preliminary discussions with carriers in Europe who are sitting on expensive spectrum and who may be getting concerned about being able to use it. Dr. J. did think the new spectrum likely would go wcdma but the current spectrum hasn't enough bandwidth for wcdma and the carriers may overlay 1x on the GSM 1.25 mghz. band.
