It gives a great dimension to what the business of data storage is, and it really does not mater how the "dot-bombs" have not performed. Data storage application is wide and large. Indeed the e-comerce 18% of their overall business.... Therefore... I can see how as e-commerce matures and more of the world goes this route the % will no doubt increase for the needs of the e-commerce world. Meanwhile the other segments continues to grow. Even, I would assume, under a recessionary environment. (obviously not as fast). At this point my lack of technical knowledge limits me to question whatever reasons exist as to why is it that NTAP solution is more reliable and cheaper than EMC. However, as the all-time equalizer of apples and oranges is reduced to mere performance $$$$ I still have to consider the large differential in p/e's. Am I to accept that the fact that NTAP's growth potentially is greater than EMC, therefore accept NTAP's larger p/e ? what about risk/reward ? from the p/e perspective, and particularly under the current market EMC seems a safer choice. (here I am not arguing the technical reasons for chosing NTAP over EMC. --it is mere risk/reward considerations.) I will definitively keep an eye on both... and if and when the big whooosh that everyone seems to be chanting for does eventually show up --most probably as a surprise to us all, no doubt... then and only then... I will go and buy as if I was a New York City socialite in pursuit of Gucci attaire on sale. ---Most probably a NYC socialite would not be caught dead on a "sale" but you get the point -gg- Let's say.... EMC @ 30 and NTAP @ 15 ? -GGGG- Meanwhile, I will continue with my calls and puts on a daily basis... the sand and gravel business seems respectable once you add it all up after a few weeks. a thousand here, two thousand there... etc etc etc -g- I got to page 17.... now it is time for a movie... Good night all.
