<<Bush's proposed tax cut gives 43% of the cut to the wealthiest 1% of tax payers, who pay 21% of the tax bill.>>

Bush's tax cut "gives" nothing, it "takes" less.

All in how you look at it.

When all is said and done the tax break given to the poor by Bush will be far greater than what Clinton gave. Also his cut was neutralized by his increase of the gas tax and his cigarette tax increase. It is a fact that the poor are the biggest smoking group.
Your numbers don't add up.

Dear dear dear Nadine, Is it true the 21% of taxes paid by the 1% rich will increase to 25% after the tax cut??

President Bushes tax plan increase the percentage of taxes paid by the top 1%

1 in 5 taxpaying families with children will no longer pay any tax at all.

6 million Americans are taken off the tax rolls completely.

A family of four making $35,000 would get a 100% tax cut.

A family of four making $50,000 a year would receive a 50% tax cut - receiving a full $1,600.

A family of four making $75,000 a year will receive a 25% tax cut.

explain it again......

Nadine, don't you think 33% is a high enough tax for our best and brightest performers? What do you hope to accomplish by overly penalizing this group? If the 33% GWB proposes is not high enough for you, are you satisfied with the current 39%? When should it stop. Your own argument of "the wealthiest 1% of tax payers, who pay 21% of the tax bill" tells me that they pay their share and more. Should they pay 50 times their share of the taxes? I think 21 times is plenty generous.

The whole demo position of penalizing people who do well is flawed. It gets them votes, but does not help society. The continued and reinforced message that the lower-waged part of America cannot make it without help from the government HURTS everyone. Can't you see that?
