I agree with you about the lack of panic, or even despondency or complacency. So I can only conclude a real bottom is some ways away still.

Regarding 1900, I suspect a relief rally will kick in, long before 1900. But 1900 will eventually come and go, and I would be surprised to see a real bottom put in this side of 1600, probably more like 1500. But these are just ballpark numbers I pulled out of my hat, and not really based on much except the distance between there and here. I'm sure you could get a better handle on these numbers from the charts and trendlines. To tell the truth, I'm not particularly interested in exactly where the final bottom occurs. But I am hoping to identify it when it occurs, as close as possible.

Way easier said than done, of course: been wrong twice now recently about a short-term bottom, and NDX instead just sliced right through solid supports I thought would hold.
