It would be unacceptable for Nortel with all of its problems to engage in an acquisition currently. They're doing a good job of closing the performance gap with Lucent. As for wireless, they're in deep doo doo because of their exposure to vendor financing whose 3G technology is in question because of delivery delays. I, personally, wouldn't want their stock for sh*t and should probably be considering shorting it. In spite of all my criticism, they are still quite a valuable marketing partner for INSP but nothing more. Through Nortel, INSP has access to the French, German, and British markets, among others--a good door opener. We should all hope that Nortel really is up to the task of fulfilling the infrastructure contracts they have agreed to.
