JDN: Re your police line-up of "Dems:"

Charles Rangle is a squirming apologist who appears to have to contort himself to avoid saying anything to alienate his constituency at the expense of, forgive the expression,"calling a spade a spade?"

Sharpton is a cynical opportunist whom I have never respected and, again, is tolerated by the party, I imagine, to avoid alientating his constituents. That's mealy-mouthed, IMO.

Jackson, OTOH, has a history, an organization and a record that far outstrips anything Sharpton has done and has earned the respect he has from his his constituents. I don't always agree with his tactics and his stock has certainly dropped lately. Whatever is going on with Mel Reynolds is wierd.

Suggesting that all Democrats or the party are somehow morally corrupt because Larry Flynt decides to publicly illuminate hypocrisy is bizarre and extreme, like tarring all Republicans for Tim McVeigh's actions.
