John, RE: Still, bottom line, a slowdown in the economy should reduce the supply/demand inflation scenario, at least in most sectors.

No question about it.

And in my never ending desire to paint as depressing as possible a picture, one of the main reasons that I liquidated my oil & gas fund is because the demand side of the equation my evaporate so much that the supply shortage is no longer significant.
