Has to do with demand. If there was a demand for the company it would have been bought at or above Ampex's expectations. Since it has not sold I assume they did not get the price they wanted and I assume there is no demand. Of course this is just assumptions and opinions. Of course it could be that Ampex simply had their expectations too high. In which case the results were the same. Reminds me of some neighbors when I was in high school, they were much better off than we, they owned several auto salvage yards. Not glamorous but apparently made good money. I remember their son always tinkered on his hot rod. Then the father died and his widow took over a year trying to sell the business, and they never got what they thought it was worth. Even though it made a good profit their were not many people who wanted to run junk yards in those days. Now their are large corporations who run large chains of them. I think they are also popular front business for the mafia. Great place to hold persuasive meetings, and to dispose of business associates.
