Your cultural biases are showing.

In the US, we are shocked by semi-permanent recessions (Japan) and double-digit unemployment rates (Germany). Many people in those countries are equally shocked by our problems with homelessness and urban crime.

It seems to me fairly arrogant to assume that the tradeoffs the US has made are necessarily the best ones for all situations.

And, since I'm typing this on a Japanese computer and there's a German car parked in the garage, it also seems fairly arrogant to declare that the US choices necessarily create the best of all possible business climates.
