Cooper Cos. Q4 earnings rise 43 pct, beat expectations
LAKE FOREST, Ca., Feb 28 (Reuters) - Health care products firm Cooper Cos. Inc. (NYSE:COO - news) on Wednesday said first-quarter earnings rose 43 percent, slightly ahead of expectations, thanks in part to strong contact-lens sales.

Cooper Cos. earnings for the quarter ended Jan. 31 totaled $6.3 million, or 43 cents per diluted share, up from $4.4 million and 31 cents a share a year earlier. Analysts on average had expected earnings of 42 cents per share, according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.

First-quarter revenues were $48.9 million, up from $40.4 million a year earlier.
