Screams erupted at a nearby hotel, where Microsoft founder Bill Gates was addressing an education and technology conference. He was whisked away as his audience bolted for the exits. Some were knocked down by others trying to get out and overhead lights fell to the floor.

this is an excerpt from an article about the earthquake but actually, i believe it's probably a good description of what happens every time bill speaks.

Yen is fine also, finally got through to her. Seattle University was shut down for a good long time.

Amazing stuff, plate tectonics. What we felt was essentially the floor of the Pacific Ocean sliding under the North American Plate, 30 miles deep. Headed to become molten magma once again at somepoint down the road...talk about recycling. They are saying that it was felt in Salt Lake City and Salem, Oregon.
