month end tape painting is perfectly normal..it is done with other people's money, so no problem. it's only an illegal breach of fiduciary duties, but what the heck...who cares...

In Canada we started suspending, fining and firing them.

The respondents are alleged to have contravened the Securities Act and TSE rules by manipulating the price of stocks through a process known as "high closings" to artificially inflate the performance of pension funds managed by RT Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada.

Some folks had to leave. Many other firms no doubt cleaned up their act. Some probably haven't yet.
