Yeah, I heard that from friends and family living out of state. Some got through to me right away; others got busy signals for hours. Go figure!

They asked people to reduce phone calls to only emergency calls and to alert one person out of state that you were okay and then let them call the rest of your family and friends.

Video/photos are just coming out of Olympia. From what I can see, it looks like Seattle got the worst of it even though Olympia was closer to the epicenter. This quake was a roller instead of a strong jolt and I think the seismic waves in a roller quake can be more damaging farther out as they move out from the epicenter. But as a geologist, you probably know for sure.
