NY Precious Metals: Palladium Sinks 5.1% Amid More Russia Sales

Mar. 1-MAR--

By Darcy Keith, BridgeNews
New York--March 1--NYMEX Jun palladium futures were down sharply
Thursday morning, sinking to a three-month continuation chart low of
$792.0 an ounce after Russian selling was seen again on the AM and PM
London fixes. At 1043 ET, Jun was down $43.0, or 5.1%, at $799.0 after
hitting a low of $792.0. The slowing U.S. economy was also blamed for the
continued slide.

"Everyone is taking a bearish tone given the weakness in the U.S.
economy, and the slowdown in big ticket item sales like automobiles," said
one trader.
The trader said some scale-down buying by consumers was seen but not
enough to prevent the market from going into retreat mode.
He said support levels were anyone's guess given palladium's sell-off.
